Planning & Meetings
Ecodesign preparatory studies are a very transparent process, including stakeholder consultations.
A kick-off meeting took place on April 8, 2020, with the European Commission to determine details of the study.
A first stakeholder meeting took place as an online meeting on July 13, 2020. Documentation of this meeting is provided below. The interim task 1 - 2 reports and a discussion paper on tasks 3 and 4 are publicly available and were discussed at the first stakeholder meeting.
In October and November further draft task reports (Tasks 3 -6) have been published to seek feedback from stakeholders. The draft report of the last task of such a preparatory study has been released on December 16, 2020.
A final stakeholder meeting took place online on December 18, 2020.

Status Update Meeting
A stakeholder meeting in conjunction with the impact assessment was held through Webex as online meeting on April 16, 2021, 09:30 – 12:30 CEST. The main objective was to discuss the final version of the preparatory study, in particular the policy scenarios and potential input for legislation presented in Task 7 (scenario analysis) and its annexes. Specific focus was also given to the proposed testing and calculation methods.

stakeholder meeting on the stakeholder meeting on the reparability score for smartphones & tablets
A stakeholder web-meeting took place on 7 September 2021, at 09:30 – 12:30 via WebEx.
The purpose of the meeting was to present a draft methodology currently developed by the JRC and discuss the progress made. Key elements of the scoring system were presented, including the rating of parameters, such as disassembly depth, and weighting factors. The Commission clarified the next steps on the inclusion of reparability scoring in the context of Ecodesign and Energy Labelling requirements. Registration closed on 30th August.
stakeholder meeting on the measurement and calculation of the energy efficiency of smartphones & tablets
A stakeholder web-meeting will take place on 16 September 2021 at 09:30 – 12:30 via WebEx. The main objective is to present the ongoing work by the consultants (company SmartViser) on the testing scope and the execution methodology for assessing smartphones energy efficiency. No discussion paper will be sent prior to the meeting. Registration closed on 8 September 2021.
